Woodworking & Lumber Media Inquiries 2024

What is a Media Inquiry?

A Media Inquiry is any request for an interview and/or for information either written or verbally received from any media organization.  This can be a blog, news company, staff writer, freelance journalist, etc.

How do we Respond to Media Inquiries?

We encourage legitimate media enquiries. It is good publicity for us.

Additionally, hardwood lumber is a niche industry. There’s not a lot of hardwood lumber business-related content online. Nor are there many publicly traded lumber companies. Thus, we’re often a great source for writers  unfamiliar with the industry.

We do not accept guest posts.

If you are affiliated with a wood company, you must disclose that in your inquiry.

Why Do We Have a Media Policy?

Several times a year (believe it or not),  journalists or bloggers reach out to us. They seek content for a lumber related article or feature.

Typically, we are more than happy to help. However, we expect to receive credit in the article for providing content

Freelance authors pitching articles to high domain authority mediums have repeatedly used our content without citation.

In fact, it’s happened so often we’ve coined this phenomenon “The Stepping Stone Method.”  Read Steve Ondich‘s answer to How do journalists get their information? on Quora

How Do We Handle Media Requests?

We spend 30-45 minutes providing the fruits of our decades of experience in this niche industry for free.

In return, you will cite us in the article.  If you cannot guarantee a digital mention, please seek information elsewhere.

It’s pretty simple.
